Schools

schoolspageChapin Park is served by the South Bend Community School Corporation. Our neighborhood straddles the Adams and Clay high school districts, but enrollment is open at all four high schools for students interested in the specific thematic focus of a particular school. Bus transportation is provided to the school of choice.

The assigned South Bend public school of a particular address can be determined by visiting the SBSC Web site, or by phoning the school corporation at (574) 283-8000. As of 2007, residents of Chapin Park fall within the following possible school districts:

Primary (K-4): Madison Primary or Muessel Primary (or magnet of choice)
Intermediate (5-8): Clay Intermediate or Jackson Intermediate (or magnet of choice)
Secondary (9-12): Adams High School or Clay High School (or magnet of choice)

James Madison Elementary School, nestled in our own Leeper Park, is one of our local public primary schools. Built in 1929, it was designated a historic landmark in 1997 and has recently undergone extensive renovations.

Other options within a ten minute drive include Veritas Academy, a public charter school serving K-5th grades; parochial schools include Holy Cross Grade School, Saint Joseph (Grade) School, and Saint Joseph's High School.
